Glen Ridge boys basketball upsets West Side for first section title since 1988

“We know we’re not the most fun team to watch. We know we don’t make flashy plays, we don’t get put-back dunks, we just play basketball. We’re just basketball players who spend time on our game,” said Koenig, who finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds. “We like to play it how we want to win. It might not be fun, it might be more like football, aggressive type of play, but it just wins games and we all trust it and we all bought in.”

“We’re a senior lineup with absolutely no panic coming into this game. We knew that as long as we controlled the tempo we were going to win this game,” Bryan Moussako said. “Nobody thought we were going to win this besides for the 14 guys on our team. We just worked hard and we got it.”

Moussako, who finished with a game-high 21 points, put Glen Ridge (20-7) ahead for good with a spinning left-handed layup to snap a 34-all tie with1:18 left in the third quarter.
